• Welcome to Camp!

Dear Families:

We are very excited to yet again begin another wonderful summer!

Throughout the years, the Shorefront Y Summer Day Camp has become a second home for campers and their families alike. Being that we at the Shorefront Y try to establish an individual bond with each and every child, along with their family, our camp has become a closely knit program with many campers engaged in many of our offerings for years.

Working with a highly trained, dedicated and enthusiastic staff allows our camp to stand out amongst others in a variety of ways. It is our staff who make camp the special place it is today, as they put their passion for working with children into full effect on a daily basis. The Shorefront Y Day Camp staff not only become counselors for our campers during the summer, but we like to think they become role models as well, by promoting important values that are kept in mind by our campers throughout their lifetime.

Our overall goal this summer, along with the previous and future years, is to make sure our campers have a fun and exciting experience with a high focus on safety.

At the Shorefront Y Day Camp we believe in the notion that camp is a place full of special moments. Through a positive camp experience, individuals are able to build memories and friendships that last a lifetime.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Shorefront Y Day Camp family and hope to grow this relationship for years to come.

Meet our Director of Summer Camp

Dana Gottfried is a lifelong camper at heart and believes that the magic of camp should be shared with as many children (and adults) as possible. Growing up in South Carolina, she attended sleep away camp in the mountains of North Carolina throughout her childhood. After making her move to New York City to study theater production at Marymount Manhattan College, Dana returned to the camp world. Over the past 10 years, has led youth in day camp, sleep away camp and teen travel programs both in the US and Internationally.  If you can’t find Dana in the office or at camp, she is at home in Astoria with her dog Sandy.
