Program Bridge 

Program Bridge offers engaging programs for adults who are at least 21 years old with developmental disabilities. Participants engage in social, recreational, and educational activities in a supportive and welcoming setting with a goal of gaining independent living skills. All programming is free.
 

The program runs every Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.

Brooklyn Connect - Free Year-Round Program

An exciting program for young adults ages 17-39 with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This program aims to increase individual self-confidence and potential along with important life skills in an innovative way by offering opportunities to meaningfully contribute through volunteering and employment.

  • Exposure to community
  • Learning about the resources within the community 
  • Creative weekly vocational and social skills training
  • Volunteer/Internship placement with a job coach (both within the Shorefront Y and with partnering organizations)
  • Opportunities for future paid employment
  • Integration into the community
  • Unique program tailoring internship placement based on current passions and abilities
  • Ongoing support for parents and caregivers

Group Training is every Tuesday from 3:15pm - 5:15pm

 

Actionplay Self-Advocacy Workshop Series

 

We are offering a series of workshops around public speaking and self-advocacy with mentorship from autistic self-advocates and performance/speaking coaching from experienced, creative staff of professionals. Workshops will be led by Actionplay.

Workshops will take place from January through June 2017 once a month on Thursdays, from 3:45 Pm-5:45 PM.

 

Actionplay is an NYC-based 501(c)(3) programming, outreach, and education organization dedicated to providing children, teens, and adults on the autism spectrum and related conditions equal access to education, arts, and culture. Actionplay is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum, their families, and the community at large.
