Director of Day Camp and Teen Services

 

Position summary: As Director of Day Camp and Teen Services you will be responsible for the development, implementation, oversight and administration of the Shorefront Y Day Camp, year round camp experiences as well as youth and teens programming.

Camp Responsibilities:

  • Lead the camp team in designing, delivering and evaluating camp programs to ensure that they meet and exceed the needs and interests of the campers
  • Implement best practices in staff recruitment, management and development
  • Work with management and marketing team to implement a successful marketing plan to reach goals of camper enrollment
  • Develop and manage the program budget
  • Supervise daily operations of camp, including administration, camper care, staff supervision and food service
  • Maintain awareness, knowledge and understanding of current social trends, including Jewish camping, child development, social media and customer service
  • Represent our organization at camp fairs and conferences

 

Teen Program Responsibilities:

Supervisory and strategic role working with a teen program coordinator who will be responsible for day-to-day teen program including the following:

  • Development and implementation of teen recruitment/retention strategy
  • Planning, organizing, and implementing educational, recreational and social action programs for teens
  • Implement teen leadership opportunities and develop a pipeline of camp staff.
  • Function as a leader and role model for youth in the community

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

College Degree Required

3+ years of experience in camp management

Extensive administration and planning skills, budget management as well as strong proficiency with camp management software

Assistant Director of Day Camps and Teen Services

 

Assistant Camp Director Responsibilities:

  • Consistently strategize, design and implement outreach efforts to bring in teens to our programs
  • Oversee planning, organizing, and implementation of educational and recreational programs for teens
  • Develop positive relationships with teens, parents, and volunteers
  • Coordinate teen programs and meetings, such as teen lounge, leadership development programs, interest clubs, community service projects, academic assistance, and chaperone trips.
  • Coordinate the participation of teens in center wide festivals, holiday celebrations and events
  • Supervise teens and activity staff during all types of programs
  • Seek out new funding opportunities for teen programming; manage all aspects of implementation and reporting for current grant funded programs.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • 2+ years of experience in camp management and or teen engagement
  • Strong management skills, including the ability to inspire and develop youth as participants, volunteers and staff
  • Superior interpersonal and team building skills
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse group that includes staff, parents, youth and the community
  • Extensive administration and planning skills, budget management as well as strong computer proficiency
  • Ability to develop and implement creative, safe and challenging programs
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions important
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Great sense of humor, high energy and a love of working with children a must

After School and Sunday Funday Programs Counselor

 

Job Description:

Counselors will work with children with special needs ages 5-13 and the position includes, leading and assisting with child-centered programming such as: arts and crafts, games, physical activities, interaction with parents and other support activities as outlined by the Program Manager.

Hands on experience working with children is a plus.

Lifeguard

 

Job Description:

The Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment for all participants utilizing the aquatic facility.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety of all swimmers by preventative measures and minimizing hazardous situations.
  • Enforcement of all pool rules and regulations in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Provide quick response to emergency situations in water/deck area.
  • Conduct ongoing maintenance: wash down deck and pump room, record pool readings, record headcounts etc. 
  • Be knowledgeable on all aquatic information and programming. 
  • Display a professional appearance with appropriate dress/uniform, including a Shorefront Y Lifeguard t-shirt, whistle, rescue tube, and fanny pack filled with first aid supplies.
  • Must arrive to work 15 minutes  prior to the start of shift.
  • Ensure the aquatic area is safe, clean and orderly.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director and/or Sports Coordinator.

 

Qualifications

  • High school education or comparable work experience
  • Valid Lifeguard/CPR PRO/First Aid/AED Certifications

Swim Instructor 

 

Job Description: 

You must be responsible with high energy and enthusiasm. Previous teaching experience is not necessary, however a swimming background and the ability to connect with children is a MUST. If you are someone who is passionate about working with kids, we have a perfect opportunity for you.

 

We offer consistent, long-term, part-time employment. 10 - 20 hours per week. Hours are: Weekday afternoons 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm, Saturdays & Sundays 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

At least one weekend day is required plus 1-2 afternoon shifts. Once set, your hours are non-flexible.



We use an innovative teaching style called the Swim Right Method. Successful applicants will be required to complete approximately 40 hours of training in this method at our indoor pool. Russian language is a plus.

Job Description:

Assist the Lead Teacher in promoting high-quality teaching and learning, provide close supervision and support children during the school day.

Social Worker

 

Job Description:

 

We are looking to hire a part-time (32 hours a week) social worker to work with Russian speaking young adults with disabilities.

 

Must be enthusiastic, easy going, creative and have experience to work with people with disabilities.

Must be able to work every Sunday.

The job responsibilities include outreach in the community and running employment and recreational groups for people on the spectrum.
