NNORC Case Manager

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred. Strong organizational, interpersonal, writing, computer, time management and multitasking skills. Fluency in English and Russian. Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team. Experience and interest in working with older adults. Demonstrated case work experience preferred.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct social services to the NNORC clients, including, but not limited to, case management, information and assistance, crisis intervention, assistance with benefits, entitlements, and housing issues, advocacy, counseling, translation, service collaboration and coordination with outside agencies.      
  • Conduct regular follow-up to ensure that participants’ needs are met.   
  • Meet contractual obligations related to service units and other requirements.
  • Prepare case records, statistics, and other required information and documents; prepare/assist with reports.
  • Participate in the NNORC community-building efforts; conduct outreach and community education; collaborate with volunteers.
  • Plan and assist with NNORC events and activities as needed.
  • Work with other agency staff on joint programs, program development and implementation. Coordinate programming with partner organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

The Shorefront YM-YWHA of Brighton-Manhattan Beach, Inc. builds community, strengthens families and empowers individuals to achieve their potentials and enhance their quality of life by providing a wide range of programs and services rooted in Jewish traditions and values to meet the evolving needs and interests of the Brooklyn community. The Shorefront Y’s Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NNORC) Program provides social work and nursing services, educational and recreational activities, as well as opportunities for volunteering and community engagement to senior citizens (60 years of age and older). The program serves older adults residing in a designated area within Brighton Beach in south Brooklyn and seeks to enhance their quality of lives, promote aging in place, and reduce unnecessary hospitalizations/nursing home admissions.

Front Desk Receptionist

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist Shorefront Y clients, inform of all Shorefront Y offerings
  • Perform administrative duties including answering phone calls, sending and receiving daily emails, computer entry, faxing, photocopying, updating bulletin boards, etc
  • Learn and manage agency data/client management software
  • Registration and payment collection for all Shorefront Y programs, scanning and emailing registrations to incoming clients.
  • Maintain and file applications for all Shorefront Y programs.
  • When assigned responsible for the operations of the building during weekend and evening hours such as answering telephone, redirecting communication to appropriate staff members, working with security, overseeing health and safety of clients in the building, and being the point person for reception
  • Coordinate work with program supervisors and department heads
  • Communicate with staff in distributing memos, mail, and other notices as needed, updating information for staff lists, phone extensions, updating staff names on mailboxes and keeping on top of information that is put on the bulletin board
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by the Administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and customer service skills
  • Computer literacy and willingness to learn new computer programs
  • Must be friendly, engaging and patient with callers, clients, and guests
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize daily workload
  • Demonstrate cultural competency through familiarity in working with people from a very diverse number of backgrounds
  • Bilingual English and Russian is preferred.

Early Childhood Lead Teacher

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provide a warm, safe, and caring environment for students to grow, learn and explore.
  • Effectively supervise, interact and relate to children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate and challenging educational curriculum
  • Develop lesson plans based on hands-on learning
  • Provide pedagogical support to families
  • Supervise and evaluate assistant teachers, student teachers, substitutes and volunteers who work in the classrooms.

After School and Sunday Funday Programs Counselor

 

Job Description:

Counselors will work with children with special needs ages 5-13 and the position includes, leading and assisting with child-centered programming such as: arts and crafts, games, physical activities, interaction with parents and other support activities as outlined by the Program Manager.

ESL Teacher

Lifeguard

 

Job Description:

The Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment for all participants utilizing the aquatic facility.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety of all swimmers by preventative measures and minimizing hazardous situations.
  • Enforcement of all pool rules and regulations in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Provide quick response to emergency situations in water/deck area.
  • Conduct ongoing maintenance: wash down deck and pump room, record pool readings, record headcounts etc. 
  • Be knowledgeable on all aquatic information and programming. 
  • Display a professional appearance with appropriate dress/uniform, including a Shorefront Y Lifeguard t-shirt, whistle, rescue tube, and fanny pack filled with first aid supplies.
  • Must arrive to work 15 minutes  prior to the start of shift.
  • Ensure the aquatic area is safe, clean and orderly.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director and/or Sports Coordinator.

 

Qualifications

Swim Instructor 

 

Job Description: 

You must be responsible with high energy and enthusiasm. Previous teaching experience is not necessary, however a swimming background and the ability to connect with children is a MUST. If you are someone who is passionate about working with kids, we have a perfect opportunity for you.

 

We offer consistent, long-term, part-time employment. 10 - 20 hours per week. Hours are: Weekday afternoons 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm, Saturdays & Sundays 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

At least one weekend day is required plus 1-2 afternoon shifts. Once set, your hours are non-flexible.



We use an innovative teaching style called the Swim Right Method. Successful applicants will be required to complete approximately 40 hours of training in this method at our indoor pool. Russian language is a plus.

Social Worker

 

Job Description:

 

We are looking to hire a part-time (32 hours a week) social worker to work with Russian speaking young adults with disabilities.

 

Must be enthusiastic, easy going, creative and have experience to work with people with disabilities.

Must be able to work every Sunday.

The job responsibilities include outreach in the community and running employment and recreational groups for people on the spectrum.
