Assistant Director of Youth Services 

The Assistant Director of Youth Services plays a vital role in supporting the overall mission of the Shorefront Y, fostering year-round youth engagement, cultivating teen leadership, planning and managing day camp programming. This role will be instrumental in creating camp themes, curricula, and youth leadership development initiatives that reflect Jewish values, ensuring impactful experiences for both campers, teens and staff.
 
Key Responsibilities

Camp Leadership, Curriculum Development and Operational Support
• Design and implement a comprehensive camp curriculum that incorporates learning, team-building, and enriching activities.
• Develop age-appropriate programs, activities, and educational sessions.
• Collaborate with the Camp Director to create annual camp themes that align with Jewish traditions, values, and culture.
• Ensure the integration of a variety of activities such as music, arts, science, sports and more into the daily camp experience.
• Mentor youth interested in joining camp staff in leadership roles, preparing them for future positions within the camp structure and beyond.
• Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and training of specialists, ensuring they are prepared for their roles.
• Oversee and support the summer camp specialists, including instructors in areas such as sports, arts, music.
• Provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to specialists to ensure high-quality programming across camp activities.
• Conduct regular meetings with specialists to review progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with camp goals.
• Assist the Camp Director with day-to-day operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and logistics.
• Act as a liaison between campers, parents, staff, and community partners to address concerns and provide clear communication.
• Assist in marketing and outreach efforts to promote camp enrollment and program success.
• Step into the role of Camp Director when needed during their absence.


Year-Round Teen Program Development & Engagement
• Develop and lead year-round programs that target teen engagement.
• Plan and facilitate events, workshops, and social gatherings aimed at building a strong teen community.
• Work closely with local schools and community organizations to expand outreach and increase teen participation.
• Utilize social media and other digital platforms to promote year-round teen programming, creating a continuous connection between camp seasons.
• Design and facilitate leadership development initiatives and workshops that focus on team-building, conflict resolution, public speaking, and mentorship.
• Ensure that leadership programming reflects Jewish values.

Community Engagement and Networking
• Play a key role in planning, promoting and facilitating all Shorefront Y community events.
• Build relationships with schools, and community organizations to promote partnerships.
• Attend and represent the Shorefront Y at relevant community events, conferences, and gatherings.
• Collaborate with community leaders to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Shorefront Y and its programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Jewish Studies, Youth Development, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in camp leadership, youth programming, or Jewish education.
• Strong knowledge of Jewish traditions, values, and practices, with a passion for fostering Jewish identity in youth.
• Proven ability to develop and implement engaging programming for children, teens, and staff.
• Excellent leadership and supervisory skills, with experience mentoring staff and young leaders.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in social media and digital engagement tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Nursing Internship Position

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Experience: Participate in clinical rotations across various healthcare departments, under the supervision of registered nurses and healthcare professionals, to develop and enhance nursing skills.

Patient Care: Interns will participate rotations across various healthcare departments, gaining exposure to diverse patient populations and medical conditions. Under the guidance of experienced registered nurses and healthcare professionals  Assist in providing direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, follow up on routines, while maintaining a compassionate and patient-centered approach. Register Nurse Interns will learn to assess, educate, teach, recommend, refer and monitor patient’s health status.

Head Counselor & Counselor positions available to work with school aged children. Leading and assisting in child-centered programming such as: homework assistance, arts and crafts, science, cooking, games, physical activities, interaction with parents and other support activities as outlined by the Program Manager.

Lifeguard

 

Job Description:

The Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment for all participants utilizing the aquatic facility.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety of all swimmers by preventative measures and minimizing hazardous situations.
  • Enforcement of all pool rules and regulations in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Provide quick response to emergency situations in water/deck area.
  • Conduct ongoing maintenance: wash down deck and pump room, record pool readings, record headcounts etc. 
  • Be knowledgeable on all aquatic information and programming. 
  • Display a professional appearance with appropriate dress/uniform, including a Shorefront Y Lifeguard t-shirt, whistle, rescue tube, and fanny pack filled with first aid supplies.
  • Must arrive to work 15 minutes  prior to the start of shift.
  • Ensure the aquatic area is safe, clean and orderly.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director and/or Sports Coordinator.

 

Qualifications

  • High school education or comparable work experience
  • Valid Lifeguard/CPR PRO/First Aid/AED Certifications

Swim Instructor 

 

Job Description: 

You must be responsible with high energy and enthusiasm. Previous teaching experience is not necessary, however a swimming background and the ability to connect with children is a MUST. If you are someone who is passionate about working with kids, we have a perfect opportunity for you.

 

We offer consistent, long-term, part-time employment. 10 - 20 hours per week. Hours are: Weekday afternoons 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm, Saturdays & Sundays 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

At least one weekend day is required plus 1-2 afternoon shifts. Once set, your hours are non-flexible.



We use an innovative teaching style called the Swim Right Method. Successful applicants will be required to complete approximately 40 hours of training in this method at our indoor pool. Russian language is a plus.


Mandatory:

Valid Lifeguard/CPR PRO/First Aid/AED Certifications.
