Where is the Shorefront Y Camp located?

We're located right on the Brighton Beach boardwalk at 3300 Coney Island Ave!

We have a beautiful view of the ocean and make full use of the beach with daily swimming and activities on the boardwalk.

How do children get to camp?

Campers come to the Shorefront Y no later than 9:00 a.m. and are picked up by 5:00 p.m. For your convenience, an early drop off option is available at 7:45 a.m. and a late stay is available until 6:30 p.m. for an additional fee.

For help transporting kids to camp, we offer a door-to-door school bus service. Your child can be picked up at your home each morning and dropped off at the end of the day for an additional fee. A staff member accompanies each bus, along with the bus driver, taking attendance and ensuring the safe pick-up and release of children to designated adults.

Please note: In the morning, children must be given into the care of a staff person and are not permitted to leave their groups alone under any circumstances. No child is allowed to leave camp without being signed out by a designated adult.

Who are the staff at camp?

Camp staff love their jobs! Before the start of camp, all staff recieve extensive training in our safety guidelines, daily procedures and camp activity Activitiesschedules.

Counselors are supervised by a Division Leader as well as the Camp Director and Assistant Director. Division leaders are mature college studentswho have risen through our ranks as exceptional camp staff. These staff are specially trained to supervise younger staff and work with kids. Various activity specialists help us develop our creative programs and our Israeli counselors add the spice and spirit of Israel to our camp.

Additional assistant counselors are placed in younger division groups to take exceptional care for our youngest campers, far exceeding the basic camper/staff ratio required by the Department of Health.

What are the age groups in camp?

Camp is divided into four age groups: 1st – 2nd graders, 3rd – 4th graders, 5th – 6th graders and 7th – 8th graders. Each group has no more than 15 campers and is staffed by two counselors and a head counselor who grow to love their groups and consider the campers “their kids.”

What are the activities and trips at Camp?

The Shorefront Day Camp is known for its awesome activities and super fun trips!

Every week has a different theme centered on Jewish traditions, values, and Israeli culture. We try to instill Jewish pride in our campers through anactive environment of sports, dance, drama, singing, swimming, Shabbat and specialty programs.

Action-packed days are filled with fun activities tobring out each camper’s strengths and talents in a positive, encouraging environment. Trips around New York City are full of exciting children’s events, special fairs and local attractions.

How will the Shorefront Y Lenny Krazelburg Swim Academy be incorporated into camp?

Splash! Swim Program

One of the highlights this summer at the Y is our partnership with the Shorefront Y Lenny Krazelburg Swim Academy. Professional swim instructors have incorporated a special swim program using aspects of the of our premier swim academy’s special SwimRight© method! Campers have a daily instructional and free swim in our Olympic sized pool with their counselors and professional aquatics staff. Weather permitting, campers are out playing at the beach and splashing in the water under close supervision of our staff and lifeguards.

What nutritious hot lunches and snacks
are served?


We serve a nutritious kosher hot lunch to our campers every day.

Parents are provided with weekly menus that accommodate special camper allergies and dietary needs. Snacks are served and we ask parents to send bottled water with their children daily. On full day trips bag lunches are provided for campers while they are out.
