Nursery School
The Shorefront Y's successful Nursery School program is designed to encourage the well-rounded growth and development of preschoolers. Our classrooms are divided into age appropriate theme centers equipped with toys and materials to encourage play and learning.

Our warm professional staff encourages children to develop at their own pace, feel good about coming to school and help each child become an equal participant in the classroom.

Teachers design an integrated theme based curriculum which incorporates math, science, language development, arts and music. Throughout the school day, children are actively involved in outdoor activities, gymnastics, dramatic play and story-time that strengthen cognitive, comprehensive, literary and gross-motor skills.

Children in our full day program are served a well balanced breakfast, kosher hot lunch and a snack. Parents may send special snacks if they wish. 

Fridays are special days for the children when they partake in music, stories, dancing and baking preparations for Shabbat. Chanukah and Passover are special occasions when families are invited to join us for festive holiday traditions and special presentations by the children.

Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK)

Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) is a no-cost, two and a half hour quality preschool program for children who are 4 years old. The program is provided through a contract with the NYC Department of Education.

Our UPK program offers a morning session from 9-11:30 a.m. and an afternoon session from 1:30-4 p.m. A "Wrap Around" option is available for parents who would like to enroll their children in a full day at a discounted rate.
